Marathon I221 General Purpose Motor
I have a Marathon 6hp 1ph motor that I believe was bought at TSC and is used for an air compressor that originally had a 5hp motor.
The cap broke and someone else opened it by disconnecting the jumpers. I have the replacement cover (I’m pretty sure) and the wiring diagram, but can’t figure out which terminals on the covers are which.
They are the combined starter/launch covers, which I’d say are from a different engine, but here’s a diagram showing a pair of covers with three legs each.
So the point is that the cap terminals are labeled “C”, “FAN” and “HERM”. Which is which? Further complicating the situation is that in the drawing the top cap has two connections coming out of the flat side (sorry, can’t remember the names of the two sides of the cap) but the bottom cap has one on the flat side and two on. curved side.

So basically there are two jumpers that connect two terminals on one cap to two terminals on the other, leaving a yellow wire on terminal 3 on one cap and a brown wire on the free terminal on the other, but I don’t know which one. the terminal jumpers should connect, or what the brown/yellow wires should catch. My problem would be solved if the cap bones in the diagram were labeled as they are on the physical caps, but they are not.
Sounds like you have the wrong caps. 3-terminal cover is for refrigeration compressor and condenser fan, two covers in one can, different size.
You need 2 separate caps of the same size for the running caps. They each have only two terminals as shown in the drawing.

On A 115/230v, Need To Know What Exactly Is Connected To The Purple Wire? L1 Or The Incoming S/n?. Actually I Need A
Okay, thank you so much! A dual lid would show two separate lid symbols in the schematic with some sort of box showing that they are one physical entity?
As you can see in the unedited diagram, a trrmin can have as many as four quick-connect tabs (quick tabs). If there is more than one wire, the capacitor can act as a connection point.
