Honda Gx390 Electric Start Wiring Diagram – Ok so I decided to use a multimeter today to see if I could get it. What I found is that the ignition always completes the 12v circuit in the “off” position (positive each wire). However when in the “on” position, all wires complete the 12v supply except the one that is positive directly.
This is the complete opposite of what I want. I want to complete a 12v circuit in the “on” position, and turn it off in the “off” position.

In Off mode, your Angle Move only works as a kill switch. It sends an Earth signal to the Ignition coil to turn off the ignition and turn off the engine.
The other 2 wires on your ignition switch are a positive voltage circuit, and their only function is to activate the starter solenoid when you turn the key to the far right (start/position) position.
Use your multimeter to check for possible malfunction of those 2 small ignition coils (without wires attached) at the back of your ignition switch. You may just discover that they are 2 completely separate, circular circuits of your transformation. (also check that they are always separated from the other 3-wire switch connections) Because if you see that they are in line with each other only in the upper position, it is possible to wire them to turn on the light (or anything) and open…
My biggest question is… now that the problem is solved… why not replace one of the hot wires?

I installed bam gas tank with sending unit and gas gauge on my minibuggy. It would be nice if the scale only draws power when the device is on without having to use the switch.

Did you understand my suggestion on how to test the 2 unused terminals of your light switch? I have a feeling they might work well for turning your fuel switch on/off with the button, but you’ll need to test them first to see if my hunch is correct. If they work the way I’m guessing, you’ll just need to run a hot wire to each, then run a wire to the other to power your fuel gauge.

However I think I understand what you mean by adding positive to one or other of the unused and tested fields. right?
Tomorrow I am going to wire the 5 pin relay, something I should have thought of yesterday

10-4. Yes, I was thinking about using this too, but I can’t think of one that would work well in your situation without ruining your battery when the cards are disconnected.
You can install an ignition switch for older outboards. They have a Magneto terminal that turns off to turn off the light, plus they have an accessory terminal that powers your inverter without using a relay… You just need to find one that has a starter terminal as well. , many older outboards had a separate push button switch for starters.

Now that I’ve pictured it, I see what you mean. This solves the problem, but when the switch is off, it will always be loaded which really defeats the purpose.
I’m sure it can’t be done without installing a new light switch and knowing how to wire it.

You connect the Magneto terminal to your machine, the only function will be ground in the off position, turn off the light.

The other connections are pretty obvious, and you most likely won’t be connecting anything to that switch terminal, unless you want to use it for a horn button or something.
