If you currently have a throttle carb, keep it. I have a 1406 and can’t get it to work even though I get a lot of help. I hate that thing. maybe it’s mine. If you don’t have one, you need to add a hot wire to one of the fuse boxes, test it with a multimeter and turn it on, see which one gets power when the ignition is on, then install the hot wire. . go there and then just connect another wire to the ground choke. It should be good there. If you want to fix it, ask me and I will tell you how to do it.

One of the wires gets hot when the ignition is on, I did an 87 with my friends 76 k5, the wiper still works and you have the throttle.

My dad has a 1986 C10 pickup that originally came with a 305 and the OP ripped the ECM and electronics. When my dad bought it, it came with a 350 from a Caprice (hydraulic flat pump), an old Qjet, and a vacuum advance. When it was shipped, the Qjet was damaged. I knew nothing about Qjets, so I bought an Edelbrock 1406 and installed it. They rebuilt the engine in 2006, and we installed a Summit cam with a 427-inch lift. The car was recently about 2 years old and I just replaced the Edelbrock 1406 with a rebuilt part, new fuel pump, clean Wix filter. and blow air through the fuel lines.
There is a factory blue wire that goes to the throttle and I found the fuel pump with one pink wire. The throttle light comes on but won’t go off and there is 0 voltage to the blue wire on the heater core. A 20 amp fuse labeled CHOKE in the fuse block is good. I found a picture in the Haynes manuals that shows there is a fuel switch and it is connected to another fuse. I’m wondering if the fuel pressure gauge is connected and shorting both the switch and the throttle cycle down? The picture is unknown.

Do you have a picture of where the fuel oil switch is located? What are the throttle options? I have the throttle plate almost all the way closed, but since the throttle won’t work, it’s on a screw that can’t run and has to work very high to keep it moving. I’d like to run it with factory wiring if possible, but I can always add some sort of repeater, since the sound seems to draw more amps when it’s running.
It is enclosed in a pressurized fuel system above the fuel filter. It should be dark blue and pink
