I have a Connecticut Electric emergen switch #10-7500 in my house with a 4 prong 30 amp locking power inlet. I have a Goal Zero Yeti 1500X power station (lithium battery and inverter). Is it possible to supply power to the transfer switch from Yeti? If so, what kind of cables or other adapters do I need? My goal is to be able to run some important programs during shutdown.

GoalZero sells a Yeti Home Integration Kit that fits my model that includes a replacement switch with a 3-prong inlet and a cable that connects to Yeti’s Type B outlet on the other end. Their support told me that if I can switch, I need a proper heavy duty cable to connect the two.

Yes, that will work. However, you won’t be able to power any 240V devices and your panel will have a hot leg running through it. This means you want to make sure your refrigerator, internet equipment (router/etc) and other critical loads are on the same leg. Usually the legs alternate with the rows in your group – for example, if it’s odd 1, 3, 5, … bottom left and if 2, 4, 6, … bottom right then 1, 2 , 5, 6, 9, 10, etc. are on the same leg and 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, etc. They’re on the other foot.
But remember that 1500Wh won’t last long. The meters in this box are designed to display up to 3750W per foot for a total of 7500W. This matches well with the 30A circuit capacity (7200W) and size of many generators readily available. Your battery box, fully charged, (that is, I suspect the actual power available will be less to avoid 100% discharging a battery that is not working properly) one hour at 1500W, 3 hours at 500W, Etcetera. It usually runs for several hours on a single tank of gas, and it produces a few thousand W (you don’t want to run it at high volumes for a long time).
